Block-of-the-Month 4” x 5” Anthology Workshop

Skill level: Adult - Confident Beginner to Intermediate
Workshop will be held on the second Saturday of each month from October 2017 through March 2018. We will create a 40 block lap sized quilt top over six months.
This workshop is based on the newest release from Carol Hopkins and Linda Koenig. This quilt was first displayed in the St. Louis Quilt Expo in April and featured nationwide at the AQS show this year.
Dates: October 14, November 11, December 9, 2017 and January 13, February 10, March 10, 2018 (a setting or make-up day will be determined at a later date)
Times: 9:00am - 12:00pm
1:00pm - 4:00pm
Where: Phil’s Sewing Studio 400 E 5th Street (across the street from Phil’s Sewing Machines)
Workshop Fee: $90.00 due at sign-up. The workshop fee includes the cost of the workshop, instruction and The 4 in x 5 in Quilt-Block Anthology book ($29.99 value). You will need to bring your own fabric and supplies, see list below. These should be purchased prior to the workshop.

Creative Grids Itty Bitty 1/8” square ruler
Optional: 1/4” foot with guide
Fabric: The blocks will be scrappy, using 4 or more colors in each block, ranging in shades of dark to light. Feel free to add more colors and variances.
Colors: minimum of 16 fat quarters or 1/4 yard cuts
Background: minimum of 4 different patterns of fat quarters or 1/4 yard cuts. If you prefer one background throughout the quilt, purchase 1 yard of fabric.
Sashing: 1 yard.
Cornerstones: a fat quarter or 1/4 yard cut.
Border and binding: 1 1/2 yards.
Sewing machine* in good working order with accessories, full bobbin and new universal 80/12 needle. We have classroom machines available for use at no additional cost and invite you to try one. If you would like to use one of our classroom machines, please let us know prior to the workshop.
*If bringing and using your own sewing machine, must be familiar with it, know how to thread, wind & insert bobbin, select straight stitch, and insert new needle if necessary.
