Irish Chain Quilt Top Workshop

Skill Level: Adult Beginner or Youth Beginner
The always popular Irish Chain quilt is steeped in American history. It’s a classic, simple pattern suitable for beginners.
Project: We will be working on the first of three rows in this workshop. Participation in the workshop will give you the skills and confidence to complete the quilt top on your own.
Date: Saturday July 14, 2018
Times: 9:00am - 12:00pm Adult Beginner
1:00pm - 4:00pm Youth Beginner
Where: Phil’s Sewing Studio 400 E 5th Street (across the street from Phil’s Sewing Machines)
Workshop Fee: $25.00 due at sign-up. The workshop fee includes the cost of the workshop, and instruction. You will also receive the pattern to complete the quilt top on your own. You will need to bring your own fabric and supplies, see list below. These should be purchased prior to the Workshop.

Supply list: Note- Supplies should be purchased prior to the class. Highlighted items to be purchased at Phil’s, stop by and our staff will happily help you make your selections. We appreciate your support of our small business.
- 1/4” foot (optional but recommended)
- rotary cutter
- fabric scissors
- coordinating thread and full bobbin for construction
We suggest marking your sewing supplies with your name/initials.
Fabrics: All fabrics should be starched and cut before the day of class. Fabric amounts are for a baby size quilt top 42”x42” (Fabric amounts for other sizes available upon request)
Strip sizes: 2 1/2” x width of fabric (width is assumed a standard 42”)
- 10 main color strips (green in picture)
- 20 background strips (white in picture)
- 4 extra background strips for a border
- 4 extra main color strips for binding
Sewing machine* in good working order with accessories, full bobbin and new needle. We have classroom machines available for use at no additional cost and invite you to try one. If you would like to use one of our classroom machines, please let us know prior to the workshop.
*If bringing and using your own sewing machine, must be familiar with it, know how to thread, wind & insert bobbin, select straight stitch, and insert new needle if necessary.
