Basic Rotary Cutting & Piecing Workshop
Instructor - Laverne Farrar
Skill Level - Beginner
The first part of the workshop will focus on the basics of rotary cutting to improve your quilting skills.
We will explore strip cutting, squares, triangles and ways to use them in your quilts. Emphasis will be on the proper way to use the rotary cutter, blade replacement, how to read and use your specific ruler, and actual fabric cutting. This class is designed to build your confidence in cutting and get you started in quilt piecing.
The second part of the workshop is designed to improve your basic machine quilt piecing skills. We will explore strips, squares, triangles and ways to use them in your quilts. We will explore chain piecing, half square triangles, quarter triangles, and how these simple shapes are used in your patchwork. We will work on the ¼" seam, accurate cutting, and building your confidence in sewing quilt blocks. We will make one simple, basic block in class.
